Pakistani Activists Describe Afghanistan as a “Prison for Women”

Bushra Gohar, a former member of Pakistan’s parliament, has described Afghanistan under Taliban rule as a “prison for women” following the recent detention of women protesters in Herat.

Gohar condemned the crackdown on women on Monday, 25 Jawza, and expressed support for the protests that emerged in Herat.

She said that after the Doha Agreement, Afghanistan had fallen under the control of an armed group, criticizing the absence of a constitution and political legitimacy in the country.

According to Gohar, Afghan women have risen to defend their rights and deserve support from across the region.

Meanwhile, Sheema Kermani, the head of the Women’s Action Forum in Karachi, also described the treatment of Afghan women as “brutal.”

She voiced support for the continued struggle of Afghan women and called for resistance against the ongoing restrictions imposed on them.
