Sources familiar with the incident say the white Land Cruiser that recently struck a group of girls on Darulaman Road in Kabul is allegedly linked to a Taliban official.
According to the sources, the vehicle belongs to Mawlavi Ehsanullah Ehsan, the Taliban-appointed head of the Islam Qala customs office in Herat province. They claim the vehicle was taken to a residence associated with the official after the incident.
The sources further say that the driver of the vehicle has been detained, while the Taliban have temporarily suspended the Islam Qala customs official from duty and referred his case to a military court.
At least three girls were injured in the incident, according to the sources, with the condition of two of them reported to be critical.
However, Taliban officials have not yet provided any official statement regarding details of the incident or the alleged connection of the official to the vehicle involved.
